A Study on the Amount and Types of Perceptions About Their Family Environment in Adolescence


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify the amount and types of Perceptions about Family Environment in Adolescence in order to provide data for planing and implementing individualized nursing care.
The subjects for this study were 290 adolescents between 13 and 22 years of age living in S and K city in Kang Won Do.
Data were collected from April 3. to May 11., 1990 by means of a questionnaire.
The instrument used for this study were the Family Environment Scale (F.E.S) - Real Form developed by Moos and Insel (1974).
Analysis of data was done by Frequency, Percentages, t-test and ANOVA. Conclusion obtained were as follows.
1. Most subjects had positive perceptions of family Environment. The mean level was 166.866 ¡¾ 18.227, in possible of score 50 to 250.
2. General characteristic variables significantly related to the level of perception about family environment were age, existence of religion and leisure state (F= 4.127 P= .017, t= 7.375 P--.007, t= 10.495 P--.001).
3. The categories of positive perception about adolescents¢¥ family environment were Cohesion (mean: 3.922), Conflict (3.854), Organization (3.656), Achievement Orientation (3.566), Independence (3.402), Control¢¥(3.266) and Expressiveness (3.233).
The findings of this study have implications for assessment of adolescents in adolescence. Further research is needed to be involved perception of family environment the variable related to health problem in adolescence.
